Sri Chinmoy Tri Club's SBR-Mini DUATHLON (run-bike-run) 2017
Results for Sri Chinmoy Tri Club's TO TRI Duathlon, Tockington Manor, 10 September 2017
34 duathletes braved a rather dodgy weather forecast to line up under grey skies at Tockington - an unfamiliar experience at this race that has so far been blessed with such amazing weather! In the event a squally shower or two didn't prove a showstopper and all starters finished in some pretty brisk times, ranging from 42 to 62 minutes - a quality field.
First to finish was Jamie Britton in an excellent time (considering the conditions) of 42.25. Race regular Tom Miller (Emersons Green RC) took third place behind runner-up Phil Partridge (Staple Hill Runners). George Britton, just a few days after turning 16, raced to an impressive 12th place overall, while fellow junior athlete Nathan Price (15) came in 19th.
The ladies' race was won once again by Yvonne Cox 47.30, with Fional Grey and Helen Parker (Kingswood Tri), separated by only 7 seconds, taking 2nd and 3rd.
Today's race was the last of the series and our club is now focussed on some international events to mark our 40th anniversary - our first race took place in the USA on 2nd October 1977. Next year we'll be back with another season of Running, Triathlon and GO TRI events around the Bristol area. Thanks to Triathon England for backing our GO TRI Events again this year. Thanks to everyone who took part this year, as athlete or helper, and we look forward to seeing you again in 2018.
Whatever you have got lined up for the winter - have a good one!

Tockington Duathlon Results 9 July 2017
The glorious summer of 2017 continues and in dry, warm conditions we saw our highest turnout to date (46 starters) and some very fast times at the front of the field. Chris Mills (Clevedon & District RC) was just a minute off the course record, taking first place among the men with 38.07, while a close race for second saw Matt Washburn finish strongly in 41.29, just 6 seconds ahead of Stewart Downie (North Bristol Tri) in 3rd. Yvonne Cox added another Sri Chinmoy Races 2017 trophy to her collection, finishing first among the women with a time of 46.45, with the runner up spot going to Maite Roche (Thornbury RC) and third place to Katie Jones (Caldicot RC).
Sadly we had a couple of mechanicals, with Emily Graham forced to retire with a flat just as she started the ride. Harsharn Dephu overcame the double misfortune of a flat tyre and a broken chain to complete the course on foot in just over an hour and a half.
Our next Duathlon event is on the same course on Sunday 10 September, while the next race in our Summer Series is our Relay (for teams of 3, completing a single 1 mile lap each) in Eastville Park on 18th July. The Race Director has confirmed that the "free ice creams for all relay runners" offer is definitely on, so get yourself a team together (all abilities welcome) and you can sign up on the night.

Results for Sri Chinmoy / GO TRI Duathlon @ Tockington 2 April 2017
The promised sunshine didn't emerge at the start but it was there in time to shine on the later finishers. 42 completed the race and with dry and still weather conditions (pretty cool as well, it has to be said) we saw good times at the top of the results - the winner coming close to 40 minutes.
Winning times were 40.25 for Chris Mills (Clevedon and District Road Cycling Club) and 48.29 for Yvonne Cox.
Male runners up were Carl Ward (50+, Somerset R C Tri, 41.24) and Thomas Miller (Kingswood Tri, 43.08) while second and third women's places went to Katherine Adams (51.10) and Katie Jones (Caldicott R C, 51.25).
Fast veteran (60+) Peter Cotterill pushed himself hard to finish in the top 4 with an excellent 44.26.

It was great to see so many women taking part (20 out of the 42) and as usual hybrids and mountain bikes were rubbing shoulders with TT & Tri bikes so we're still seeing that broad cross-section of athletes - from tri veterans to first timers - that GO TRI events across the UK are hoping to cater for.
Coming up next in April & May we have running events in Eastville Park, our Aquathlon in Filton and of course the Try-a-Tri and new Sprint Tri at Portishead. Details are all online at uk.srichinmoyraces.org.
Thanks to everyone who took part and hope to see you at the next race,
